Thymosin Alpha-1 5 mg — an immune-signalling peptide from the thymus
Isolated from thymic tissue decades ago, Thymosin Alpha-1 remains one of the most thoroughly characterised immunomodulatory Peptides in the literature.
What is Thymosin Alpha-1?
Thymosin Alpha-1 is a 28 amino acid acetylated peptide originally purified from thymosin fraction 5, a thymic tissue extract. The thymus is where T cells mature, and this peptide's research profile centres on exactly that: it is studied for its association with T cell differentiation, dendritic cell function and Toll-like receptor signalling — particularly TLR2 and TLR9. Rather than broadly suppressing or stimulating immunity, literature describes it as a modulator that appears to influence the direction of immune responses.
Research interest
- T cell maturation — investigated in research examining thymic differentiation and T cell subset development.
- Toll-like receptor signalling — studied for interactions with TLR2 and TLR9 pathways in dendritic cells.
- Immune modulation — of interest to researchers exploring the balance of pro- and anti-inflammatory signalling rather than unidirectional stimulation.
- Cytokine expression — referenced in preclinical literature examining shifts in interferon and interleukin profiles.
- Thymic peptide biology — a foundational compound in the study of thymus-derived immunoregulatory signals.
The N-terminal acetylation on Thymosin Alpha-1 is a structural feature, not a manufacturing detail — synthesis quality directly determines whether the peptide matches the molecule described in the literature. Rogue supplies batch-verified, lot-traceable material.
Specifications
- Content: 5 mg of active peptide per vial
- Form: Lyophilised powder (vial)
- Purity: Pharmaceutical-grade, batch-tested and lot-traceable
- Presentation: Sealed, tamper-evident single vial
- Storage: -20 °C sealed; 2-8 °C short-term
Handling & storage
Lyophilised material is best held at -20 °C in the sealed, unopened vial. Refrigeration at 2-8 °C is acceptable for short-term handling. Protect from light, humidity and repeated freeze-thaw exposure. Keep the lyophilised peptide sealed, dry and frozen for extended storage. Allow the vial to reach ambient temperature before opening. Reconstitution should follow the laboratory's validated method with an appropriate sterile diluent; refrigerate and aliquot the resulting solution, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycling.
Thymosin Alpha-1 in context: from thymus extract to clinical research
Thymosin Alpha-1 was characterised in the 1970s by Allan Goldstein and colleagues, who were working through the active components of calf thymus extracts; its full sequence was published in 1977. Later work showed that it is cut from a larger precursor protein, prothymosin alpha. Once chemical synthesis made pure material available, the synthetic version received the international name thymalfasin and was studied in clinical trials, including in chronic hepatitis B and C, as an adjunct to vaccination in people with weaker immune responses, and alongside cancer therapies. Under the brand Zadaxin it is registered as a prescription medicine in a number of countries, particularly in Asia.
The name causes a lot of confusion. “Thymosin” only marks peptides first found in thymus extracts: Thymosin Alpha-1 and thymosin beta-4, the parent of TB-500, the actin-binding thymosin beta-4 fragment, are unrelated molecules studied for very different things.
| Peptide | Origin | Main research focus |
|---|---|---|
| Thymosin Alpha-1 | N-terminal fragment of prothymosin alpha | Immune signalling: T cells, dendritic cells |
| TB-500 | Synthetic fragment of thymosin beta-4 | Actin binding, cell migration, tissue repair models |
| BPC-157 | 15-amino-acid sequence from a gastric protein | Soft-tissue repair, angiogenesis, gut lining |
For a genuine lot, a purity figure alone is not enough. Look for an HPLC purity result plus a mass-spectrometry identity check matching the expected mass of roughly 3,108 Da, with the same lot number on the certificate and on the sealed vial. Keep expectations realistic: most of the evidence comes from the licensed medicine used under clinical supervision, often combined with other treatments. Health questions, bloodwork, dose and duration belong with a doctor, never with a research vial. Rogue's peptides are sold for research purposes only and are not for human consumption.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy Thymosin Alpha-1 peptide online?
Right here. Rogue keeps Thymosin Alpha-1 5 mg in EU stock and ships it tracked across the European Union in plain, discreet packaging, with free shipping on orders over €30. You can pay by SEPA bank transfer or through a secure card payment link. If your work involves related compounds, you can browse the full range of research peptides in the same order.
Can I get Thymosin Alpha-1 from a pharmacy or on prescription?
Not this product. In some countries the medicinal form, thymalfasin, is a prescription medicine supplied under a doctor's care. Rogue's 5 mg vial is a research compound, which pharmacies do not sell, and it is no substitute for that medicine. Rules on buying and holding research peptides differ from country to country, so check your local regulations before you order.
How much does Thymosin Alpha-1 5 mg cost, and is there a discount for several vials?
The current price is shown at the top of this page. Multi-buy discounts apply automatically once you order three or more vials, and the price ladder on this page shows how the price per vial changes with quantity, so you know the total before you pay. Orders over €30 also ship free and tracked.
Is Thymosin Alpha-1 the same as thymosin beta-4 or TB-500?
No. Both carry the thymosin name because they were first identified in thymus extracts, but they are different molecules. Thymosin Alpha-1 is studied for immune signalling, while thymosin beta-4 and its fragment TB-500 are actin-binding peptides studied in cell migration and tissue repair models. That second group is covered in our guide to BPC-157, TB-500 and GHK-Cu.
Is Thymosin Alpha-1 the same thing as thymalfasin or Zadaxin?
Thymalfasin is the official name of synthetic Thymosin Alpha-1 as a medicine, and Zadaxin is the brand under which it is sold in several countries. The amino acid sequence is the same, but a medicine is manufactured, approved and dispensed under pharmaceutical regulation for patients. A research vial is not that product and should never be treated as a replacement for it.
How can I tell whether a Thymosin Alpha-1 vial is genuine?
Check that the seal is intact, that a lot number is printed on the label and that the certificate of analysis for that exact lot reports both purity and identity. The freeze-dried contents should be a dry, white, even cake; a collapsed, sticky or discoloured cake suggests moisture or poor handling. Be wary of sellers with no lot numbers or prices far below the market.
