DSIP 5 mg — delta sleep-inducing peptide, an endogenous nonapeptide studied in sleep architecture, circadian and neuropeptide transport research. Lyophilised and batch-tested.
DSIP 5 mg — delta sleep-inducing peptide, a classic neuropeptide research tool.
DSIP has held a place in sleep and neuropeptide research since it was first isolated from cerebral venous blood in the 1970s. It remains one of the few well-characterised endogenous Peptides associated directly with slow-wave sleep phenomena in the literature. Supplied as a 5 mg lyophilised vial.
What is DSIP?
DSIP (delta sleep-inducing peptide) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide originally identified through work on sleep-associated humoral factors. It takes its name from the delta-wave EEG activity its discovery was linked to, and it has since been examined far beyond sleep itself — in stress-response research, in neuroendocrine regulation and as a probe in blood–brain-barrier transport studies, since it is one of the small peptides documented to cross it. Its short sequence and endogenous origin make it a useful reference neuropeptide when investigators need a naturally derived comparator rather than a synthetic analogue.
Research interest
- Sleep architecture — investigated in EEG-based models examining slow-wave and delta activity.
- Circadian regulation — studied in the context of rhythm-associated neuropeptide signalling.
- Stress-response neurobiology — of interest to researchers examining neuroendocrine adaptation pathways.
- Blood–brain barrier transport — used as a model peptide in CNS-penetration and transport research.
- Neuropeptide characterisation — applied in comparative work on endogenous CNS-active peptides.

Handling & storage
DSIP is supplied lyophilised because the dry state is substantially more stable than any solution. Keep vials sealed, refrigerated and dry, and equilibrate to ambient temperature before opening so that condensation does not reach the cake. Reconstitution should follow the receiving laboratory's validated protocol; add solvent slowly down the inner wall, swirl gently and allow the cake to dissolve without agitation or vortexing. Reconstituted neuropeptide solutions are vulnerable to proteolysis, adsorption onto plastic surfaces and freeze–thaw damage, so aliquot into single-use volumes in low-binding tubes, keep them cold and dark, and thaw each aliquot once.
DSIP 5 mg in depth: origins, evidence and how it compares
DSIP was characterised in 1977 by a Basel research group around Marcel Monnier and Guido Schoenenberger. Their starting material came from rabbits in which sleep had been induced by electrical stimulation of the thalamus: a dialysate of the donors’ cerebral venous blood, given to recipient rabbits, increased delta activity on the EEG. From it they isolated a nonapeptide with the sequence Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu and a molecular mass of about 849 Da.
What makes DSIP unusual is how much is still unknown. No dedicated gene, precursor protein or specific receptor has been conclusively identified, and free DSIP is broken down quickly by peptidases in blood, which complicates the interpretation of results. Small clinical studies in the 1980s looked at insomnia and withdrawal syndromes and produced mixed, hard-to-replicate findings. DSIP has never been approved as a medicine by the EMA or the FDA.
Side by side with related compounds studied in sleep, circadian and stress research, its profile is easier to place:
| Compound | Structure | Main research focus |
|---|---|---|
| DSIP | Natural nonapeptide (9 amino acids) | Delta and slow-wave sleep, stress response |
| Melatonin 10 mg | Indoleamine made from tryptophan, not a peptide | Circadian timing via MT1/MT2 receptors |
| Epithalon 50 mg | Synthetic tetrapeptide (4 amino acids) | Cellular senescence, telomere biology |
| Selank 5 mg | Synthetic heptapeptide derived from tuftsin | Stress and anxiety-pathway models |
A genuine vial is sealed with an intact cap, carries a batch number that matches its analysis and holds a compact white lyophilised cake. Mass spectrometry confirms identity (the mass should match roughly 849 Da) and HPLC confirms purity. Expectations should stay realistic: DSIP is not a sleeping pill, and anyone with persistent sleep problems should see a doctor, because insomnia often has treatable causes. Rogue's peptides are sold for research purposes only and are not for human consumption.
Frequently asked questions
Is DSIP available in pharmacies?
No. DSIP has never been approved as a medicine, so pharmacies in the Netherlands, Croatia, France or anywhere else in the EU do not stock it and a pharmacist cannot dispense it. It is supplied as a research compound by specialist suppliers. Rules on research peptides differ from country to country, so check what applies where you live before you order.
Where can I buy DSIP online in Europe?
Rogue ships DSIP 5 mg across the EU from EU stock, including to the Netherlands and Croatia, by tracked delivery in plain, discreet packaging. Orders over €30 ship free. You pay by SEPA bank transfer or through a secure card payment link. Each vial comes sealed and batch-tested, with traceability back to its source.
How much does DSIP cost?
The current price of a 5 mg vial is shown at the top of this page. Multi-buy discounts apply automatically from three units, and the full price ladder is displayed on the page. Be wary of choosing on price alone: an unusually cheap offer with no batch number or analysis is a reason for caution, not a bargain.
Do I need a prescription to order DSIP?
DSIP is not a licensed medicine, so it is not something a doctor prescribes or a pharmacy dispenses; it is sold as a research compound. That does not make it a product for personal use, and the rules on buying research peptides vary between EU countries. Check your national regulations before ordering.
What do people's experiences with DSIP actually show?
Personal reports found online are anecdotal and cannot be verified. The published research is more useful: early animal work linked DSIP with increased delta activity, but later studies, including small human trials, gave inconsistent results, and there is still no established mechanism of action. Any question of dose or duration is a matter for a doctor, and persistent sleep problems belong with one too.
How is DSIP different from melatonin?
Melatonin is a small indoleamine made from tryptophan in the pineal gland; it acts on the well-characterised MT1 and MT2 receptors to signal biological time. DSIP is a nine-amino-acid peptide with no identified receptor, studied mainly in connection with slow-wave sleep and the stress response. That is why melatonin is the standard reference in circadian research, while DSIP remains an exploratory neuropeptide tool.
